Family Favorites + Helpful Finds
Over the years, many of our CFLHSG families have asked for recommendations on homeschool resources, travel essentials, outdoor gear, educational supplies, family favorites, and everyday products that make life a little easier.
-
To help simplify things, we've created a Family Favorites section featuring products we personally use, love, or frequently recommend within our community. Whether you're preparing for field trips, homeschooling at home, traveling, camping, or just looking for family-friendly finds— we hope this helps!
Full Transparency: Some links on the page above may be affiliate links through our Amazon Associates program. If you choose to make a purchase using our links, CFLHSG may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. 100% or proceeds are donated back into supporting our homeschool community and may help offset costs for educational supplies, resources, event materials, name tags, certificates, website, technology, communication tools, group activities, prizes, community support items, future educational opportunities for families, and so much more.
Thank you for supporting CFLHSG and helping us continue creating meaningful adventures and opportunities for local homeschool families!

This is not a paid sponsorship or advertising. We are simply sharing this because many of us moms and dads in this group use them already and find it very healthy, tasty, stress free, and beneficial. For example: My own kids are 9 and 13, they both enjoy these on occasion and I can't lie, I eat them myself as well lol. They come in handy for me as a full time work from home and homeschooling mom as they make some of my weeks a little easier and stress free. My favorite meal is the White Mac & Meatballs with Green beans. It's creamy mac with hidden cauliflower, chicken meatballs & a side of green beans for balance.

Dana Davie - Florida Homeschool Portfolio Evaluator.
I offer same day $20 (or what you can afford or feel is a fair price) homeschool portfolio evaluations and I am happy to help complete your child’s home school portfolio evaluation! I’m a former assistant principal and teacher. I’m unschool and special abilities friendly. Don’t stress about completing your portfolio… with me it’s stress free and easy peasy!
-
When you are ready, you can send me a message on Facebook (find her in our Private FB Group HERE), text (863-594-0466), or email (dana@brandondavie.com).
-
I will need a reading log, a log of educational activities, parent/guardian name that you want on the form, student’s official name, DOB, home address, and examples of work. Examples of work can be pictures of field trips, worksheets, etc. I’ll review it and then have a chat with your child or we can meet up somewhere in Lakeland if preferred as well.
-
I ask for $20 per evaluation but you can pay what you can afford or what you feel is fair.
-
To complete an evaluation will need the following: The child’s full legal name, DOB, the documented parent/guardian name and home address. Then I’d need titles of some items read, a log of educational activities and work samples. All of these can be texted or emailed. Finally I’d need to chat with your child… I literally ask a few questions! Nothing serious and not pass/fail… just to get a feel of their “school” year.
-
Titles of items read: This can be books but also anything else could work such as menus, labels, magazines, recipes, signage at zoos/museums, etc.
-
Log of educational activities: This can be an image of table of contents from a workbook with dates completed, an agenda/planner/calendar, a bulleted list of items/activities/locations visited, etc.
-
Work samples: I just need evidence that educational opportunities were available and/or progress was made. So… this can be samples from workbooks from a few subjects, images of activities completed or places visited.
-
It really is meant to be stress free and there are a ton of ways I can verify each requirement. Let me know how I can help!

Southern Hill Farm - Clermont FL.
Looking for things to do in Central Florida? Check out all Southern Hill Farms has to offer! Kick back, relax and enjoy the breeze with some refreshing, homemade blueberry lemonade in one of our rocking chairs. If relaxing isn’t your thing, grab some friends for a local craft beer and a spirited game of bean bag toss. Enjoy day break during our sunrise yoga class – afterward take your blueberry mimosa to our rooftop deck and watch the day come alive, birds chirping, over the blueberry fields.
-
Our 120-acre family-owned and operated farm includes u-pick and commercially harvested blueberries, strawberries, peaches and seasonal vegetables. We planted our first crop of blueberries in 2010 and currently have 40 acres of blueberry bushes, 5 acres of peaches and 15 acres of strawberries. The farm is home to picturesque fields of sunflowers each season and zinnias in the spring and fall. We welcome guests during our winter and spring u-pick seasons and again in the fall during our Fall Festival, a family destination to remember.
