Welcome to Central Florida Homeschool Group!

Our community has grown tremendously, and with that growth comes a lot of information. This guide will help you understand how CFLHSG works, where to find events, how to stay updated, and what to expect as a member.
We recommend bookmarking this page so you can come back whenever you need it.

Who Is Central Florida Homeschool Group?
Central Florida Homeschool Group, also known as CFLHSG, is a volunteer-led homeschool community created to help homeschool families connect, explore, learn, and experience more together.
Throughout the year, we organize opportunities such as:
Educational field trips
Behind-the-scenes tours
Social meetups
Teen activities
Family experiences
Educational adventures
Special group events
Travel opportunities
Seasonal activities
Some experiences are local and last only a few hours. Others may turn into full-day adventures, overnight experiences, or even group trips.
Our goal is simple: create opportunities for homeschool families to experience things together that may be difficult, expensive, or sometimes impossible to arrange individually.

How Does Membership Work?
CFLHSG offers an annual family membership that helps us operate the group and provide additional opportunities and resources to registered families.
One family membership covers your household for the membership year.
Registered members may receive benefits such as:
Priority registration for select events
Access to private member communication groups
Member-only opportunities
Access to select group rates and discounts
Educational materials for select field trips
Early announcements and registration opportunities
Additional resources offered throughout the year
Membership does not automatically include admission or tickets to paid events unless specifically stated.
Each field trip or event will have its own registration information.

Just Registered? Your Account May Not Be Ready Immediately
Please allow 6 to 10 days for new membership payments to process and accounts to be activated.
CFLHSG is volunteer-led, and portions of our membership setup currently require manual work behind the scenes.
We complete these tasks while also working, homeschooling our own children, caring for our families, and organizing group activities.
We process memberships as quickly as possible and greatly appreciate your patience.
If it has been more than 10 days and you still cannot access your account, please visit our Contact page for assistance.

Where Do I Find Upcoming Events?
The best place to find current opportunities is directly through our official website.
Each event page will explain important details such as:
Date and time
Location
Age recommendations or requirements
Ticket pricing
Registration deadlines
What’s included
Important venue requirements
Available group discounts
Any additional instructions
Please read the complete event information before purchasing tickets or registering.
_______________________________
Why Do Some Events Sell Out So Quickly?
Many of the venues we work with give us a strict capacity.
Sometimes that’s 20 people.
Sometimes it’s 50.
Sometimes it’s 100 or more.
Unfortunately, interest can sometimes be much greater than the number of spaces we’re allowed to offer.
For especially popular experiences, tickets may sell out quickly after registration opens.
When possible, registered CFLHSG members may receive priority or early registration access before an event is opened to nonmembers.
If there’s an event your family really wants to attend, we recommend registering as soon as tickets become available rather than waiting until the deadline.

How Do I Stay Updated?
There are several ways to keep up with CFLHSG.
Our Group Updates section on our website is becoming the main home for longer announcements, important information, event updates, guides, and other details families may need to reference later.
Instead of trying to squeeze large amounts of information into social media posts or group messages, we’ll often post information there and share the link.
_______________________________
Our private WhatsApp community is one of the primary ways registered members receive quick announcements and updates.
We may also create event-specific WhatsApp groups for certain field trips.
These smaller groups allow us to communicate important instructions with registered participants without overwhelming families who aren’t attending that particular event.
Some events may require participants to temporarily join the applicable event group so they don’t miss important instructions.

You can also follow Central Florida Homeschool Group on Facebook for announcements, photos, reminders, upcoming opportunities, and community updates.
However, social media algorithms don’t guarantee that you’ll see every post.
For important event information, always rely on our official website, emails, and member communications rather than Facebook alone.

How Do Field Trips Work?
Every CFLHSG field trip is different.
Some events are completely free.
Others require tickets.
Some venues provide discounted group pricing, while others may simply provide special access or educational opportunities.
Before registering, always read the individual event page carefully.
Pay particular attention to:
Age requirements: Some venues have strict minimum ages.
Ticket requirements: Never assume a child is free unless the event specifically states it.
Registration deadlines: Some events close before the advertised date if capacity is reached.
Refund policies: Ticket policies may vary depending on the venue and event.
Arrival instructions: Group tours often require everyone to arrive at a specific time.
Participation requirements: Certain events may have additional rules established by the venue.
_______________________________
What Are Junior Explorer Materials?
For select educational field trips, registered families may receive special educational materials created to complement the experience.
Depending on the event, these may include activity pages, journals, educational worksheets, challenges, certificates, or other resources.
These CFLHSG exclusive materials are designed to help turn a fun field trip into an even richer homeschool learning experience.
Not every event includes educational materials, so check the individual event information for details.
_______________________________
Do We Have to Stay With the Group?
Not always!
Some experiences are structured official group meetups, while others allow families to take advantage of our group pricing and enjoy the experience independently.
We’ll clearly explain the format on each event page.
For structured tours or experiences where the venue requires us to remain together, participants will need to follow the group’s schedule.
For more flexible experiences, you’re welcome to explore at your family’s own pace.
That’s one of the reasons it’s important to read the details for each event before registering.

A Quick Reminder About Our Volunteers
Central Florida Homeschool Group is volunteer-led.
The people answering messages, negotiating group rates, communicating with venues, building registration pages, organizing field trips, creating educational resources, and handling membership accounts are also working, homeschooling, raising families, and managing everyday life.
We absolutely want to help when you need us.
We just ask for a little patience and understanding while waiting for responses or manually processed requests.
